Currently the Artistic Director of Diesel since August - Nicola Formichetti is about to put his stamp on the ultra cool brand Diesel. His full collection will be shown in Milan come March, but in the meantime he is transforming the brands ad campaigns with his #DieselReboot project which will debut in stores from today.
#DieselReboot is a capsule collection of two halves, denim and leather - 3 pieces {revealed below} along with western shirts, denim jackets, digitally printed t-shirts and of course jeans which have been put together in Italy before being covered in patches that have all been drawn from past Diesel Collections.
Here’s what Nicola has to say about the collection:
Are there any particular pieces from the archives that inspired you?
It was a mixture of archive pieces, old patches and studs…and old denim pieces. I patchworked all the history into one capsule collection.
What does Diesel mean to you?
Alternative life, alternative to luxury
What have you brought to the label?
I feel like what Renzo Rosso, the founder of Diesel, did in the last 35 years is so incredible. I'm here to bring the next 35 years of more incredible things with him!
What can we look forward to in March when you present your first collection at the helm?
I want my show in March to be a new departure, to be something different and new. I want to break the rules of fashion.
Dazed Digital Contest
Nicola Formichetti has crafted the Tribute collection campaign to be shared entirely online. The revolutionary concept was realised with the help of Nick Knight and shot solely on an iPhone. Glitches and filters project the mood of the collection across Insta-videos, Instagram shots and GIFs – images that were then distorted and redesigned here by 15 Folds for Dazed.
