Azzedine Alaia is a magical force in fashion and his signature silhouette can be spotted in a seal of frocks. He is just incredible. This month in Paris the designer will be honored at the reopening of The Palais Galliera from September 26th through January 26th, so if you are in Paris this is a definite item on your agenda to add.

His Fall 2013 collection does not really capture the intricacy of garments, Polka dots on a baby-doll dress, shown with matched leggings, are actually raised, like embroidery, and a series of vertically striped dresses are in fact ribbons of lacework backed by a shimmery knit. Other sophisticated techniques include honeycomb pleating, and most of the garments have a minimum number of seams. It’s remarkable what Mr. Alaïa is able to express through one form.
